This time now, I would have captured 45+ weddings, 10 of those weddings would be on my schedule to be edited over January and February, plus I would have just finished editing a Highlights video for the year.. showcasing the variety of our wedding work. Well instead… I’m writing this 2020 review blog post… to lay down some thoughts, give you an insight into our crazy year just gone and share with you what we’ve been up to… from commercial work to family photoshoots!

Firstly, I really feel for all couples who had their 2020 wedding cancelled due to COVID lockdowns… having to change plans and postpone dates. I have worked my hardest throughout to accomodate all postponements and make this process as easy as possible for my couples. On the flip side, with all the emails and re-arrangements… my admin skills have been thoroughly worked out this year!

Inevitably, I have completely lost a few bookings due to global flight cancellations, with couples who were hoping to fly over and be married in England. But I’ve also gained new bookings too, with 2021 and 2022 shaping up to be my busiest years yet!

This year the wedding industry has been surviving on small weddings and elopements. I’ve had the privilege to film and photograph a few of these elopements and small weddings across Devon and Cornwall. I’ve found that couples have always cherished their videos and photos, but this year there has been an extra importance and emphasis on their desires for the day to be captured, so they can share their wedding with those family members and friends who couldn’t attend due to COVID restrictions. I’ve also had last minute bookings to film intimate wedding ceremonies, with couples deciding that video was the best way to share their special day with those unable to attend.

Having a solid network of friends who are also professional wedding photographers and videographers in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset is amazing. From keeping creative ideas flowing throughout lockdowns to sharing our experiences and outcomes, it has been a great support, especially throughout this year!

As the majority of our wedding bookings moved over to 2021, I had the opportunity to focus on commercial work. From creating a promotional video for a school in South Devon to photographing fine art for an artist ready for exhibiton and print, commercial video and photography work has kept our creativity flowing and is a service we continue to offer for local businesses.

I’ve also spent a lot more time enjoying drone flying around our beautiful South Devon coastline – capturing landscape images from unique perspectives.

Family, couples and pet photoshoots have been so much fun too! We hosted mini photoshoot sessions throughout October and December, selecting colourful autumnal locations and festive wintery woodlands. Thank you to everyone who booked with us – we had so much fun throughout our sessions, making memories to be cherished forever. More mini photoshoot sessions will be happening in 2021! We also offer longer 1 hour sessions and photoshoot vouchers.

To end my post, I will share with you a selection of work from the year. Some weddings I’m keeping private due to the couples wishes and some images below are pre-covid in January and February 2019.

Happy New Year!
